The start of the Hungarian language classes begins also in the city of Bacau

With the beginning of the 2006/2007 school year the Hungarian language classes will be thought in the official school curriculum in the city of Bako. According to the Association of Chango Hungarians of Moldova, the collected petitions from the parents of children, appears that the first classes will be held at the Domnita Maria School beginning in the Fall. (school is on the south side of the great bridge overpass).
We ask all those who have relatives and friends in Bako and those who have school age children to notify these families of this opportunity as the applications has to be completed by 20 April 2006 so we can have the most children in the language group(s). We would be happy to inform all the interested parties about the program at the offices of the MCSMSZ in Bako on weekdays between the hours of 9-17 if in person or by phone 0234-543-886-or 0722-627-656 numbers.

We would like to ask those who are presently are from the 13 educational area, to do everything they can through their families, friends that the maximum number of children can be enrolled in the Hungarian language classes. This is especially important in areas where the children already enrolled in school because the Hungarian language class can be thus incorporated in the class curriculum as a required subject. Such is the situation in the villages of Labnik, Magyarfalu, Kulsorekecsin and Csik.

Meeting with the teachers of the Moldavian Hungarian education program

We were pleasantly surprised by the number of attendees at the event for the godparents that we held on 2006. february 18. The people that took the time to meet their sponsored child's teachers and the other staff members of the education team was not limited to those from Budapest. We had the opportunity to meet enthusiastic godfathers and godmothers from more distant municipalities and even from Germany and Slovakia.

The personal meeting was a great opportunity for the godparents to find answers to particular questions that they had about the specific villages, their local situations, and to learn more about Hungarian education and their sponsored child specifically.

Naturally there were gifts as well. We delivered 150 personally addressed packages to the Moldavian children. We are greatfull for all those who came to personally meet us. The words of encouragement, smiles, and handshakes gave us renewed strength for the work we had undertaken. We hope that next time we can meet here in Moldavia. Come and visit us!

School principals from Csángóföld in Budapest

On the invitation of The Association of Csango-Hungarians in Moldavia, on 2006. february 16.-19., Romanian school principals and teachers travelled to Budapest with the purpose of experience-exchange. Schools from 11 villages were represented in the program, whose primary activities were tours of Budapest and, most importantly, the 10th Csángó Ball. Our goal was to shrink the differences between our viewpoints, making good use of a joint camping trip with Hungarian teachers and by showing how enthusiastically and on what a large scale Csángó songs, music, and dances are being learnt and celebrated in Budapest by the Hungarians. At the same time by also showing our guests the more important historical places in Budapest, and also through the many conversations shared in the 2 days spent together, we hope we were further able to bring our respective points of view closer to each other with regards to questions and problems discussed in years prior.

The principals and the teachers also had a chance to see the film, "Made in Romania" which, though in Romania it has not yet been shown, produced a great deal of political and civil debate in Romanian language Romanian media.

Csango Ball 2006

Teachers of the Hungarian Educational Program of Moldova visited Budapest
16-19 February

Such as former years, this year the teachers of the Hungarian educational program of the Association of Csango-Hungarians in Moldova took part on the 10th Csango Ball, in Budapest. In many respects the travel was rather special this year: we organised a separate meeting for the Moldavian children's "godparents", and this year school directors took also part, at whose schools the Hungarian language teaching has already been started. The fatigue of the 16-hour-long bus travel was eased by the sound of kobza, flute and song clanging aboard until dawn.
The success of the godparents' meeting was beyond our expectations. It was great pleasure to see, how many godparents found it important to meet teachers of their protégé and the co-workers of the educational program. It was a great feeling to experience their sincere interest, reassuring and many good words. We thank godparents their attendance and the many-many kind presents.
The great number of participants on the Csango Ball proves that how many people is interested for the traditional Csango culture. In the Ball, lasting until dawn, all of the teachers found his or her favourite entertainment.
During evening the storm-stirring documentary film, 'Made in Romania' was played. It was followed by the gala program with outstanding histrionic performances, while music made hundreds of people dance, until getting out of breath.
Meantime there was great attendance at the exhibitions and at the 'marketers' too, and to our great pleasure, the table of MCSMSZ was continuously visited also. So our brochures and calls could have been forwarded to many people, such as our thoughts and experiences about Moldova, the Moldavian life and education could have been shared with many kind people.
To our great delight, none of the school-directors was in a hurry back to the accommodation, and the midnight bus was empty...!
The many great experiences during our stay in Budapest have given us a great deal of strengths to continue our work in Moldova, Csangoföld just as we did it earlier: breezily and zealously.

The House of Children of Labnyik will be built soon!

In the village called Lábnyik, it has succeeded to buy a building site and to transfer it to the Association of Csángo-Hungarians in Moldova. The twenty-ares large site, bought with the financial support of the 'New Spring' Civic Circle of Gödöllő and Dr. Gabor F. Hardy and his family, will be the place for the House of Children of Lábnyik.
At present children learn Hungarian in a rented dark attic-room in the village, and their Hungarian teacher lives in a lodging in fairly reduced circumstances, too. The future building will ensure proper circumstances both for children's studying and for teacher's living. This is the first immovable estate in the property of MCSMSZ. We thank all of our donators for it!
According to our plans, the building will be started right after having completed the layout plans and having received permissions. So the children could learn the Hungarian there from September 2006!
We ask everyone, who has the opportunity, to support the building of the House of Children of Lábnyik.
