Collective Action of Minorities

The Association of Csángó-Hungarians in Moldova was represented by a 4-strong delegation at the minority conference held in Pécs between 10-12 March 2006. At the event, which was sponsored by the EU and organised by HID-ENCEF (Bridge-for-Europe Nationality Civil Conciliation Forum) several minorities living beyond Hungary's border and ethnic groups living in Hungary were present. Their aim was that by means of co-operation, as a group, as an umbrella organisation put pressure on European institutions to assure the rights of minorities. The other purpose of the conference was to create financial conditions in which the self-organisation of national or ethnic minorities, the network of our civil organisations can operate without difficulties, which on the long run is the interest of the majority nationalities as well. Besides the EU also prefers a culturally colourful Europe.
Please find some documents below which were forwarded to the European Parliament by the leaders of HID-ENCEF:

It was very honorific, that Mr Zoltán Kallós, the Kossuth-prize awarded ethnographer was present at the general assembly too. He is known as 'Uncle Zoltán' of the Moldavian Csangos, who has been visiting their villages for 50 years. To our great delight, among the attendance one could find Mr. Turlui Bogdán - president of the Foundation of 'Szeret from Roman', Mr. Mihály Perka - teacher at Szabófalva, Mr. Sándor Rozsnyai - president of the Bar of County Kovászna and director of their Ethics Committee, Mrs. Katalin Gálfalvi - censor, Mr. Gyula Szép - managing vice-president of RMDSZ, Mrs. Erzsébet Borbáth - vice-president of the Foundation of 'Domokos Pál Péter', Csíkszereda, the representatives of the media, and many further dear guests.

Members have accepted the reports and the majority of the votes has approved the proposed activities introduced by the management for the coming period. Accordingly, it has been decided, to proceed with the development of education and the opportunities for higher studies, and the creation of the so called Children's House institutes in the Moldavian villages. According to the decision made, the management of MCSMSZ will send up the diocese a petition again for the initiation of alternative mother-tongue masses.
Mrs. Katalin Gálfalvi, censor, read the report of the Censors' Committee on the financial year 2005, available on our homepage. The General Assembly has accepted the report.
Since our last assembly, 74 new members have registered. Besides the acceptation of their memberships, it was a great moment when the honorary members were voted.
Under the articles, the management of MCSMSZ has set the list of members, who have supported the activity of the Association surpassingly in the past period. According to the decision of the Assembly, they became honorary members of the Association. Let's have their list here, alphabetically:
