A
meeting of Hungarian and Romanian bishops is going to be held in
Budapest in fall 2008, as the two episopal conferences agreed -
said Mr László Német, secretary of
the Hungarian Catholic Episcopal Conference (MKPK).
In reference to the fact that this is the first occasion the two
institutions meet, the secretary called it an historic event.
According to Mr Német, the convention is likely to deal with the
issues concerning pastoral care of the Csangos in Hungarian language.
The Csango question also might have been an issue on the clerical
conference in Bucharest cardinal Péter Erdő and the bishop Petru
Gherghel of Iasi attended.
Cardinal Péter Erdő was informed in writing by the Association of
Csango-Hungarians in Moldovoa about the negative incidents of recent
times. The Association also asked the cardinal to exercise his influence
to help find a peaceful solution to the case of the Csangos who
wish to preserve their language and culture.
